Things aren’t going well for our poor oak tree. Bugs have moved in and seem to be winning the war. Seems like it needs to be cut down … ? The last photo gives an idea of how close Mr. Oak is to the cabin.
I guess the good news is I’ll have firewood for years to come. Or maybe I could have the trunk sawed into boards … ?

Too bad about the tree. Maybe a good arborist could do something? That said, depending on what is in there (Emerald Ash Borer), you might need to burn it right away. Good luck!

Thanks for the thoughts! I do know that the tree is an oak. The arborist wants $65 to come out to look at it … and since the damage looks pretty bad to me, I’m inclined to put that toward the (not insignificant) cost of having the tree cut down.
